Give your full attention to every step, every breath, every movement.
Feel the deep connection between body, heart, and mind.
Move slowly and consciously. Let your breath flow with your steps.
Walk fluidly, relaxed, and smoothly.
Connect with your surroundings and let the scents, colours, shapes, and sounds come to you.
Walk with your hand on your heart, completely honest with yourself. Sometimes that is not comfortable. Stillness also shows what we would rather not see.
Balance, and constantly regaining balance, can be grounding in your daily life.
Attention, stillness, and presence as the way of meditative walking
You can also consciously stand still, sit, or lie down — and let this aware movement seep into the other things you do.
Aware walking can be done alone, with two people, or in a group. It can become a shared experience, connecting you with others.
It can make you quieter, more economical with words — or simply present.
The intention is to be conscious. No decision, no choice — but a constant return to what is happening at this moment, in this place.
There is no one right way. Everyone puts their own emphasis, according to their own insight.
And every time we start again — as a blank slate.
There is no final destination. Be happy and amazed by who or what you encounter along the way. Don’t get stuck — keep bending with what the new brings.
Would you like to experience this silence for yourself? You’re welcome to join us for a walk in Ryckevelde with no obligation.
