Frequently asked questions

What is meditative walking?

Walking slowly, quietly and mindfully in nature. No guided meditation, no technique, no instructions — just walking together, paying attention to your steps, your breath and your surroundings.

Do I need experience with meditation?

No. There is nothing to know or prepare for. Everyone is welcome, with or without a background in meditation or mindfulness.

What should I bring or wear?

Sturdy walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. In Flanders, that usually means rainwear or a waterproof jacket. Nothing else is needed.

How many of us are there usually?

This is a newly started initiative. At the moment, we often walk with fewer than three people. Small and intimate, with room for anyone who joins us.

Do we always walk in silence?

The walks are mostly silent. There is room for a few words along the way or afterwards, but the focus is on silence and mindfulness.

What if it rains heavily?

In light rain, we carry on. In the event of heavy rain, we are working on an indoor alternative. Please send a message if the weather is uncertain.

Is this a religious or spiritual group?

This is not a religious movement nor a sectarian approach. We are open to your worldview — whether you are religious, non-religious, searching, or simply curious.

Can I bring my dog?

It is best to leave pets at home. The silence and pace are not always easy for animals, and it can be disruptive for other participants.

Can I come if I don't live in Bruges?

Of course. The Vossenberg car park is in Sijsele, near Bruges, and is accessible from all over West Flanders and the Ghent region. You are welcome.
